Delta Expands Safety Commitment by Requiring All Customers to Wear Face Coverings Across Travel

All customers are now required to wear a face mask or appropriate face covering when travelling on Delta. This extra layer of protection - for customers and employees - aligns with best practice guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control.

Face coverings are required starting in the check-in lobby and across Delta touchpoints. These include Delta Sky Clubs, boarding gate areas, jet bridges and on board the aircraft for the duration of the flight – except during meal service. Use of face coverings is also strongly encouraged in high-traffic areas like security lines and restrooms. People unable to keep a face covering in place, including children, are exempt.

Delta is working to protect employees and customers and help slow the spread of the virus. Other safety measures include:

  • New temporary requirements for employees to wear masks or face coverings when within six feet of others while at work
  • Employee temperature checks
  • Enhanced cleaning measures implemented in airports and on aircraft
  • Expanding electrostatic spraying procedures, which disinfect employee work and break areas, to more locations
