Delta Comfort+® Moves from Premium Economy to Economy Shelf for Transpacific and Transatlantic Markets

To continue efforts to align our premium branded products with our Joint Venture partners, Delta will shift its Delta Comfort+® product from the Premium Economy shelf to the Economy shelf for all transpacific and transatlantic itineraries where Delta is the marketing carrier. This change is effective for travel on/after November 14, 2018. Domestic and Latin America markets will continue to display Delta Comfort+ on the Premium Economy shelf.

Why is Delta making this change and what does this mean for Travel Agencies?

Shifting Delta Comfort+ from the Premium Economy shelf to the Economy shelf on transpacific and transatlantic itineraries will:

·         Help eliminate confusion between Delta Premium Select and Delta Comfort+ on the Premium Economy shelf for all third-party channels (e.g. GDS and OBTs)

·         Better align with the way our Joint Venture partners display their Premium Economy products

·         Make it easier for Travel Agencies to recognize and sell Delta’s products

In transpacific and transatlantic markets, when selling a Delta Comfort+ fare in the GDS, Travel Agents will need to book a customer reservation into W class and price as booked. The lowest available Delta Comfort+ fare will be offered. Travel Agents should not use a “lowest fare rebook” entry as this will rebook the customer into a lower Main Cabin fare and remove them from Delta Comfort+.

Delta Comfort+ fares are based on dual inventory; both W class and the Main Cabin class of service used to determine the fare must be available in order for the PNR to price. Delta recommends that Travel Agents issue the ticket immediately in order to ensure that the ticket prices at the fare quoted.
