Delta Moves to State-of-the-Art Beijing Daxing International Airport in March 2020

Delta Air Lines will move from the Beijing Capital International Airport to the Beijing Daxing International Airport in March 2020. Delta’s relocation will come at a time when its SkyTeam partner China Eastern has announced moving its services to Daxing Airport, which will ensure smooth and convenient international-domestic connections for customers from both airlines. Delta’s service into Beijing will feature its leading suite of on-board products including Delta One Suites, and provide an industry leading on-the-ground customer experiences at the new state-of-the-art airport facility.

China Eastern is expected to publish a full schedule of Beijing-Daxing services for Summer 2020 in the first quarter of 2020, at which time Delta will provide additional instructions on re-accommodation.

“We look forward to moving to our ‘new home’ in Beijing,” said Wong Hong, Delta’s President – Greater China and Singapore. “The brand-new Daxing International Airport will provide us a great opportunity to better serve the growing needs of our customers in China. As Delta operates in the new mega airport, working with China Eastern side by side, customers will enjoy improved departure and arrival time, seamless connection, more convenient baggage delivery, and faster security check, customs, and boarding/arrival procedures.”

Delta’s nonstop daily service from Detroit and Seattle to Beijing will move to Daxing Airport, from which customers will eventually have access to over 30 cities across China through codeshare flights with China Eastern. Additionally, China Eastern’s all-new international and domestic VIP lounges at Daxing Airport will be open to Delta One customers and SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum or Gold Medallion members.

Delta’s Beijing-Detroit daily flights are now served by the airline’s flagship long-haul aircraft the Airbus A350. The Beijing-Seattle daily flights will adopt the new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, starting Spring 2020.

The Beijing Daxing International Airport, one of the world's largest, covers a terminal area of 700,000 square meters and is expected to handle 72 million passenger trips a year by 2025. Situated around 50 kilometers to the south of the Beijing city center, the new airport is accessible via the new subway Daxing Airport Express, a high-speed rail and an intercity rail.

Daxing Airport is not the only new facility Delta is using in China. In September 2019, Delta moved all flights at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) to the newly constructed Satellite 1 terminal. Currently, Delta operates daily nonstop service from Detroit, Seattle, Los Angeles and Atlanta to Shanghai Pudong. By mid-2020, all of Delta’s six daily nonstop flights from the U.S. to Beijing and Shanghai will be served by its brand-new A350, A330-900neo, or newly retrofitted B777 aircraft, all equipped with the airline’s next-generation Delta One Suite and Delta Premium Select products.
