Basic Economy Expands to Include Exit China on Delta's Direct Channels, Seat Assignment Purchase Option Now Available on International Itineraries

Following the expansion of Basic Economy for travel exit U.S. to China in January 2019, Delta is now offering Basic Economy for travel exit China to the U.S. in Delta direct channels only, as of April 15. Basic Economy exits China is available on the flights from Beijing (PEK) or Shanghai (PVG) to Detroit (DTW), Atlanta (ATL), Nashville (BNA), Minneapolis (MSP), Salt Lake City (SLC) and Seattle (SEA).

The Basic Economy product attributes for travel between China and the U.S. mirror those offered in other trans-Pacific markets. Expanding Basic Economy into additional markets is just another way Delta is providing customers more choice and control in their travel. The product is designed for price-conscious customers who want Delta’s high-quality onboard experience but need less flexibility. For more details about Basic Economy product attributes, please refer to Delta.com.

Additionally, as of April 10, Delta extended the option for customers who have purchased a Basic Economy fare to obtain a seat assignment prior to their flight for a fee, for international itineraries on DL-operated flights. Previously, this option was only available to customers with wholly domestic itineraries. Customers who have purchased a Basic Economy fare will now have the option to purchase a seat assignment from seven days prior to departure up until the check-in window opens, based on availability. For additional details on this enhancement, visit Products & Services on Delta Professional
