Delta and Korean Air Enhance Transpacific Partnership with Seattle Codeshare

Delta and Korean Air are expanding codeshare flights, following government approvals for their joint venture partnership, which will offer customers world-class travel benefits across one of the most comprehensive route networks in the transpacific market.

With today's new codeshare between Seattle and Seoul-Incheon, Delta and Korean Air offer 16 peak-day codeshare flights between the 50 U.S. states and Seoul. Seattle to Seoul-Incheon flights offer round-trip connections from Incheon Airport to 18 major cities in Asia, including Singapore, Osaka, Nagoya and Bangkok. In addition, Korean Air's code will be added to Delta flights from Seattle to 44 cities in the Americas, such as Phoenix, Denver and San Jose over the next few weeks.

"Delta and Korean Air are working closely to bring customers the full benefits of our joint venture," said Steve Sear, President – International & Executive Vice President – Global Sales. "Expanding our codeshares to include the Seattle hub is the next step to building our joint position as the best U.S.-Asia partnership. Our combined network and schedules give customers significantly enhanced choices and more seamless service."

Earlier this year, Delta and Korean Air co-located in the new, state-of-the-art Terminal 2 at Seoul's Incheon International Airport (ICN), substantially reducing connection times for customers. One of the world's largest airports, ICN's connection times are among the fastest in the region. It has been recognized as one of the best airports in the world for over a decade by Airports Council International, as well as being named the world's cleanest and best international transit airport by Skytrax.

Delta anticipates that Seattle and Seoul-Incheon will continue to grow as major gateways for Delta and Korean Air. Delta is the only U.S. carrier to offer nonstop services to Incheon from Seattle, Detroit and Atlanta, while Korean Air is the largest trans-Pacific carrier.

From Seattle, Delta will operate 174 peak-day departures to 54 destinations in July 2018, an increase of 96 daily departures over summer 2014 with five daily flights to Asia. Delta's domestic seats have increased over 110 percent since summer 2014 with 80 percent operated on mainline aircraft.
