Delta Presents Social Impact Award to Junior Achievement Youth in Africa

Delta sponsored the Junior Achievement 2019 Company of the Year (COY) finals, hosted for the second successive year in Ghana.

The annual event celebrates the successes of youth aged 16 to 19 who benefit from the impact of the JA Company Program®.

Delta's Social Impact Award recognizes JA Companies, that have a real impact on society through their products and business plans. This year’s award was presented to The Active Innovators, a team from Zambia who produced a range of household kitchen items made from recycled materials like plastic bottles and bottle tops.

The team donated products, including fly traps, brooms and dustpans to the Home Management and Hospitality Department in their school and donated profits to help vulnerable women and girls. The Active Innovators also adopted a local community school, providing free brooms to help students enjoy cleaner facilities.

This year’s COY finals brought together 50 young entrepreneurs to demonstrate their business acumen in a competitive environment from countries across Africa including: Botswana, Eswatini (Swaziland), Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Delta is proud to partner with 30 Junior Achievement chapters across four continents to ignite an educational spark in more than 80 0,000 students across the globe each year.
