Delta Comfort+ Switches from Premium Economy to Economy Shelf for Transatlantic and Transpacific Markets

To continue efforts to align our Premium Branded Products with our JV partners, Delta will switch its Comfort+ product from the Premium Economy shelf to the Economy shelf for all Transatlantic and Transpacific itineraries where Delta is the marketing carrier, effective for bookings made for travel on/after November 14, 2018. Domestic and Latin America markets will continue to display Comfort+ on the Premium Economy shelf.

What does this mean for Travel Agencies?

Delta is making this change to help eliminate “the overlap” between Delta Premium Select and Delta Comfort+ on the Premium Economy ‘shelf’ for all third party channels (e.g. GDS and OBTs), to better align with the way our JV partners display their Premium Economy products, making it easier for Travel Agencies to recognize and sell the products.

When booking and pricing a Delta Comfort+ fare in the GDS in the Transatlantic and Transpacific markets, Travel Agents will need to book a customer’s reservation into “W” class and use a “price as booked” entry.  The lowest available Delta Comfort+ fare will be offered.  Travel Agents should not use a “price as lowest fare and rebook” entry to try to price the itinerary, because the reservation is booked in “W” class, this entry will rebook the customer into a lower Main Cabin fare and remove them from Delta Comfort+.

Please Note:  Delta Comfort+ fares are based on dual inventory; both W class and the Main Cabin class of service used to determine the fare must be available in order for the PNR to price.  Delta recommends that Travel Agents issue the ticket immediately in order to ensure that the PNR prices at the fare quoted.
