Brazilian Foreign Affairs Ministry to Begin Issuing Electronic Visas

Throughout January, the Brazilian Foreign Affairs Ministry will begin issuing electronic visas (e-Visas) for citizens of Canada, Japan and the United States. Delta customers traveling to Brazil can apply for a Brazilian visitor e-Visa at www.vfsglobal.com/brazil-evisa.

Brazilian e-Visa applications will be available on January 11 for Japanese citizens, January 18 for Canadian citizens, and January 25 for U.S. citizens. Australian nationals have had the ability to apply for Brazilian e-Visas since November 21, 2017.

E-Visas will be valid for a maximum period of two years, or up to the expiration date of the traveler’s passport, whichever comes first. Emergency visas will not be available through the electronic application. Additionally, the e-Visa is valid for a 90-day maximum stay in Brazil in a 12-month period and costs less than the traditional visa obtained at a consular office. Travelers may still opt to obtain a traditional visa.

“The application, approval and issuing of the e-Visa is expected to take approximately five days and will expedite the travel protocol to enter Brazil,” said Fabio Camargo, Director for Delta in Brazil. “It is important that customers print their approved e-Visa foil as they must present it to board the flight and to enter Brazil.”
