How to Buy Delta Premium Select

  • Delta Premium Select fares are booked in “P”, “A” and “G” classes

  • Customers can purchase premium products like Delta Premium Select as an ancillary seat purchase for all or part of their journey, in all markets.
    • To purchase Delta Premium Select as an ancillary seat product, travel agents may go to delta.com or call Global Sales Support or Delta Reservations for assistance.
    • Ancillary purchase options build on Delta’s innovative branded fares program designed to give customers greater flexibility and choice when making travel plans.
Post Purchase Upgrades

Post purchase upgrades using cash or miles can be done via delta.com. Travel Agencies maintain control of tickets when customers upgrade post-purchase.

How to Identify Delta Premium Select fares in a GDS
  • Delta Premium Select fares are available to view and sell in most GDS in the same manner as other fares. Travel agents may view the complete fare rules and details of any fare available in a GDS fare display.

  • Delta Premium Select fares will use Delta’s Fare Basis Code structure. This structure features a product identifier in the 2nd to last character of the fare basis code, and allows customers to apply unique ticket designators for discount programs.

Please note: Delta Premium Select fares are booked in "P", “A” and “G” Class.

Branded Fare Product

2nd to the last Character in Fare Basis Code

Example

Delta Premium Select

(No dual inventory check; Fare Basis Code begins with P, A, G; Booking class will be P, A, G)

P

GLX67NPD

Delta Premium Select

(With dual inventory check - Fare Basis Code begins with Main Cabin inventory letter*: Booking class will be P, A, G)

P

VLNJENPW

*Exception, for travel from the U.S. or Canada to Europe, Middle East, Africa or India (EMEAI), the Fare Basis Code will take the main cabin inventory letter with an “M” instead of a “P” in the 7th position, for fares booked in “G” class of service.

Dual Inventory Check Process
  • Delta uses a Dual-Inventory Check Process for Delta Premium Select fare products in Latin American markets and markets in EMEAI*.  Fares are filed as published fares and the Fare Basis Code will begin with a Main Cabin Inventory letter (Q, K, L, U, T, X, V etc.), but the Delta Premium Select booking class will always be “P” “A” or “G” class.
  • When a Delta Premium Select fare product is based on dual inventory, to be available for purchase, both the Fare Basis Code booking class and the Delta Premium Select inventory class of service (P, A, G) must be available.

  • Example of a Delta Premium Select fare:
    •  The identifier in a Fare Basis Code will indicate “P” – VLX67NPD
    • Booked in P, A or G class = V Fare Basis Code
    • Requires both P, A or G and V class to be available (dual inventory check)

*In EMEAI markets, there will be Delta Premium Select fares published that are based on dual inventory with the Fare Basis Code that begins with a Main Cabin inventory letter. In addition, there will be other fares published that are not based on dual inventory, that will be filed with a Fare Basis Code that begins with the letter “P”, “A” or “G”. Only the fares that are filed with the Fare Basis Code that begins with a Main Cabin inventory letter will be subject to the dual inventory check process. Delta does not file fares using the dual inventory check process for Delta Premium Select fares in almost all Transpacific markets.
