Cancel Ticket Coupon Check-in Status   

In most cases, Delta allows travel agents to change the status of a ticket coupon from CKIN to OPEN in order to make changes to a customer’s itinerary or ticket, without requiring the travel agent to contact Delta Sales Support or Delta Reservations for assistance.


To change the ticket coupon status, travel agents may cancel the checked-in segment or the seat assignment of the checked-in segment from the PNR. After the checked- in segment or seat assignment is canceled and the PNR is ended, the ticket coupon status should change from CKIN to OPEN.  

Important: After canceling the checked-in segment or seat assignment of the itinerary, you must first end the PNR before making any additional modifications to the PNR.


Travel agents may choose to contact Delta Sales Support to change the ticket coupon from CKIN to OPEN, before making any changes to a PNR for the scenario below.

  • For changes to the return segment of a roundtrip itinerary where a customer has checked in for the outbound flight and the outbound segment has not been flown.

    • Travel agents may cancel the outbound seat assignment to reopen the checked in coupon. However, once canceled, you may not be able to confirm the same seat assignment after completing the transaction.

Please note: If a ticket coupon status shows BRD, it is already under airport control and cannot be changed by either Delta Sales Support or the travel agent. The customer must have a Delta representative at the airport open the coupon.
