Building the Airports of the Future

September 6, 2017

Dear Valued Travel Partner,

At Delta, we believe that innovation is the key to our long-term success.  Your partnership is invaluable to us as we continue to improve the customer experience. We’re hard at work creating industry-leading products and services that set new standards for corporate travel, both in the air and on the ground.

Delta is committed to making the future of air travel smarter and hassle-free – a process that starts the moment your travelers arrive at the airport. That’s why we’re strategically investing in our facilities worldwide to modernize the travel experience.

Here’s a look at the state-of-the-art technology and best-in-class services currently being implemented at select airports across our network:

  • Handheld nomad devices are being launched as a part of a test program at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) to allow agents to move freely and interact with customers while making seat changes, checking bag status and more. We’ve also implemented boarding pillars that help to provide customers with a clear path to board the aircraft and improve traffic flow.

  • The biometric boarding pass experience was launched at Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to allow eligible Delta SkyMiles® Members who are enrolled in CLEAR to use fingerprints as proof of identity to board their plane instead of a paper or mobile boarding pass. In addition, a new pilot project allows customers to connect face-to-face with Delta specialists via video chat at Delta Sky Assist.

  • Self-service bag drop machines are being introduced at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). The investment utilizes facial recognition technology to allow customers to quickly, securely and easily check their own bags.

  • LaGuardia Airport (LGA) Terminals C & D are being replaced with a new $4 billion facility, including 37 gates across four concourses, a central check-in lobby, a new Delta Sky Club® and additional parking and infrastructure.

  • An unprecedented airport experience with Delta Sky Way at LAX is underway which includes a $1.9 billion investment to upgrade and modernize our new home at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Terminals 2 and 3.

  • A $766 million, 450,000 sq. ft. International Arrivals Facility is under construction in partnership with Port of Seattle which will complement Delta’s $27 million of investments at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) over the last few years.

Your loyalty and partnership helps shape the future of corporate travel to create a more seamless and enjoyable experience. With sincerest appreciation, thank you for your continued support of Delta Air Lines.
