Delta honors Operational Performance Commitment

You continue to tell us how important it is to get your travelers to their destination on time and with bags. As such, operational excellence is at the core of everything we do and a key tenet of the Delta Business value proposition.

In 2015, we launched our Operational Performance Commitment – an industry-first promise to deliver operational excellence or compensate your company. Delta is the only U.S. global carrier to continuously honor its operational commitment.*

Delta’s Commitment means that if our flight delays and cancellations or mishandled bag rate rank lower than other U.S.-based global airlines, we will compensate your company. Not only has Delta met this commitment, but this year, Delta has been the most reliable airline among major U.S. carriers, ranking first in domestic on-time arrival rates and completion factor** and first for bags domestically for U.S.-based global airlines.*** Even throughout the unprecedented challenges faced by our industry, our commitment has never wavered.

We remain focused on operational reliability

Following challenges earlier in the year, we made many changes to restore the world-class reliability that customers deserve and have come to expect from Delta, and we will continue to strengthen our resilience in the months ahead.

We’ve accelerated hiring, bringing on around 15,000 new employees since the start of 2021 and have taken several actions and investments to build additional resilience into our operations including scheduling crews with more buffer to help us absorb and adjust when factors like weather disrupt the operation, and increasing boarding times.  We are also continuing to engage with the FAA on improving processes for air traffic management, which will help minimize delays and cancellations due to inclement weather.
