Did you know that Delta was the first airline to launch a comprehensive on board recycling programme?

Since 2007, the airline has collected paper, plastic and aluminum from food and beverage products and transported it to recycling centers in 36 cities worldwide. So far, the programme has recycled over 230 tons of aluminum – that’s enough to make five A350 aircraft!

Instead of planes, funds from Delta’s program are turned into homes for families in need in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. To date, Delta people have built 261 Habitat houses in 11 countries around the world and the $1 million raised from recycling has funded 11 homes in five U.S. cities.

Each year, over 2,500 Delta employees volunteer their time and talent with Habitat for Humanity to build homes in the U.S. and internationally, offering families safe and affordable housing. Following Delta's Global Build in Guangzhou, China in April, builds in New York, Seattle and Los Angeles are planned before the end of 2018.
