Advisory Notice for Travel from South Korea (ICN) to the U.S.

B Counter at Incheon Terminal 2

Due to travel restrictions related to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Seoul-Incheon (ICN) airport has implemented a three-step fever screening process, effective March 11, 2020.

Step 1: Pre-screening at the main terminal access points

ICN Airport Authority will screen fevers at the three main terminal access points for passengers and guide individuals to medical professionals at the Exit Screening Stations at B counter or to contact KCDC for further evaluation. This is part of the pre-screening process for passenger service and not a mandatory process.

Special procedures for all U.S bound flights

  • All departing passengers are required to visit the Exit Screening Stations at B station to complete the Health Declaration Form.
  • Medical professionals will check temperatures for passengers and issue a Health Screening Certificate for those passengers who have no issue to fly.
  • Those customers who exhibit symptoms or need further medical evaluation will not be eligible to fly and medical professionals will handle them accordingly. Airlines will be notified of the passenger profile in this case.

Step 2: Mandatory screening at all departure security check-points for all departing passengers

A mandatory fever screening will be conducted by Korea Army personnel for all departing passengers at all departure security check-points (4 lanes) except airline crew. Any passenger with 37.5C or higher fever will be directed to the airline carrier. Airline personnel will be required to escort the passenger to the nearest Exit Screening Station for further evaluation if the temperature check shows the same result three times.

Step 3: Fever screening by airlines and interview for all passengers at gates

Each individual airline will screen for fever for all passengers at gates. This is mandatory for U.S.-bound flights and optional for non-U.S. bound flights. Korean Air is screening for fevers for all flights.

Airlines are directed to:

  • Not board passengers whose temperatures are over 38C and are U.S.-bound or if they fail to pass questions from the security interviews.
  • Contact ICN Quarantine Office to handle passengers who are denied boarding.
