Main Cabin Fare to Premium Fare Ticket Exchange Policy

Delta’s Main Cabin Fare to Premium Fare Ticket Exchange policy allows travel agents to rebook a customer to a more premium product, by reissuing the ticket manually using the generic waiver code and following the change and reissue guidelines listed below. The policy excludes customers who have purchased a Basic Economy fare in Main Cabin.
Below are some examples of how a customer might upgrade to a more premium product.

Change and Reissue Guidelines
- Applies for tickets issued worldwide using a Delta fare or for AF, KL, VS, AM, KE, VA fares when combined with other Delta space on 006 ticket stock
- Applies to wholly unused tickets
- Valid for domestic and international travel, as shown in the table below, for all published and private fares
- Applicable to ticketed PNRs only
- The ticket must be reissued by the original issuing agency
- Valid only for the identical flight(s) and date(s) as ticketed – no changes permitted to origin/destination, flight(s), date(s) or time(s)
Rebooking from a Main Cabin fare to a Delta Comfort+, Delta Premium Select, First Class, Business, or Delta One Fare

For travel within the U.S. 50 or for travel between 50 U.S./Canada and the Caribbean/Mexico/Central America

For travel between the 50 U.S./Canada and South America, Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and Africa |
Collect the fare difference; no change fee will apply

Collect either the fare difference or the Main Cabin fare change fee, whichever is greater |
Required Documentation for Ticketing
- When reissuing the ticket, enter waiver code 5AQ8Y in the ticket designator box (if using a corporate ticket designator, place the waiver code in the tour code box)
- Failure to include the waiver code above on the ticket in the ticket designator box or the tour code box may result in a debit memo for failing to properly document the ticket
- The original non-refundable value carries over to the new ticket; note this amount in the endorsement box
