Basic Economy Expands to Africa

Effective November 21, 2019, Delta will begin offering Basic Economy for travel exit Accra, Ghana (ACC) and Lagos, Nigeria (LOS) for Africa point of sale only. The product is designed for price-conscious customers who need less flexibility and still want to enjoy Delta’s high-quality on-board experience. 

With the addition of Basic Economy, Delta will charge a second checked bag fee of U.S. $70 for Basic Economy travelers in these markets. Basic Economy passengers will not be charged a fee for their first checked bag. Main Cabin passengers in these markets will not be charged a first or second standard checked bag fee. Basic Economy fares for Africa point of sale will be changeable for a fee of U.S. $180 (plus any applicable fare difference).

The expansion of Basic Economy into Africa point of sale is part of Delta’s ongoing effort to make the fare product available in more international markets. Expanding Basic Economy is one more way Delta is providing customers more choice and control in their travel.
