Delta Expands E-Ticket Technology for Infants on Domestic Itineraries

Effective for travel on/after December 12, 2017, Delta Air Lines will introduce a new policy that requires the issuance of an eTicket for lap infants on domestic itineraries for flights operated by Delta and Delta Connection®.  Delta is updating its policy to ensure consistency for all customers traveling with a lap infant.  This aligns Delta with an industry standard to improve safety and security among U.S. carriers and will help to provide a more complete manifest of all passengers onboard.

While travel agencies are revising their processes to issue domestic infant eTickets, Global Sales Support and Delta Reservations are available to assist with issuing domestic infant eTickets, if necessary.

Travel Agency Requested Action

To ensure a seamless experience for our mutual customers traveling with a lap infant on a domestic itinerary, travel agents are asked to:

  • Continue to add an infant SSR (INFT) for each lap infant in the PNR to indicate an “infant in arms” is traveling

  • Issue an infant eTicket at zero value, for customers traveling on/after December 12, 2017.

    • The process and information needed should be the same as what your GDS requires for issuing infant eTickets on international itineraries.

    • If needed, please refer to your particular GDS Help Desk, as procedures may vary by GDS.

If you have questions or need further assistance, please contact Global Sales Support or Delta Reservations.
