Wrapping Up a Great Year
Delta's Achievements in 2019
Delta is busy getting your customers wherever they need to be to celebrate the holiday season with friends and family around the world. With new products launched, planes refurbished and a continued focus on being a global leader in sustainability, it has been a busy year. Here are just some of Delta’s 2019 highlights.
Named the world’s most on-time airline for the second year running by Flightglobal, Delta scooped a host of other prestigious awards in 2019.
Corporate travel professionals named Delta the No. 1 airline in the annual Business Travel News Airline Survey for a record ninth consecutive year, again sweeping all 11 categories.
Delta’s new, elevated onboard experience for international Main Cabin customers took off in November. Designed to create memorable moments – like ‘welcome aboard’ Bellini cocktails and bistro-style dining - it’s part of Delta’s commitment to investing in every customer, wherever they sit on the aircraft.
Meanwhile, Delta is bringing upgraded comfort to every cabin with newly refurbished Boeing 767-400 and B777s on more transatlantic routes. These aircraft feature our new premium economy product, Delta Premium Select.
Delta expanded its use of biometric technology to more U.S. hubs. Customers traveling direct to international destinations can use facial recognition to board flights at Atlanta Concourse E, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City.
Delta launched the first biometric terminal in the U.S. in December last year at Atlanta’s Concourse F.
Simply removing plastic wrappers from new-look TUMI amenity kits earlier this year means Delta can divert around 30,951 pounds of plastic from landfills in just one year.
We also replaced plastic stir sticks, straws, and plastic wrap around international main cabin cutlery onboard, as well as service ware in Delta Sky Clubs® with more sustainable alternatives. This will eliminate around 300,000lbs of plastic waste – the weight of two Boeing 757s – each year.
Launched in April this year, The Great Delta Give-Back offers employees a paid day off to volunteer at charitable organizations and supports over 600 communities worldwide.
On Earth Day 2019, Delta offset more than 300,000 domestic customers’ travel. We also teamed up with partners Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic to offset emissions from more than 15,000 customer flight segments to and from Chicago for the GBTA Convention.
We’ve made it easier for customers to join our sustainability mission, with a more user-friendly Carbon Calculator at co2delta.com. Here they can also choose which programme their carbon offsets should support.
