Booking Class Realignment: Expanding Beyond Seattle Markets
Using a phased approach, Delta continues to realign premium cabin classes as part of its ongoing effort to more consistently and transparently display fare choices, while better aligning with our joint venture partners. The pilot phase for booking class realignment occurred on October 20, 2018, in Seattle (SEA) markets, for travel on or after November 1, 2018. Full details
How will the new changes for the affected markets occur?
On November 3, 2018, for travel on or after April 2, 2019, a schedule change will occur for almost all Domestic First Class markets to move Domestic First Class fares from F, P, A, G and R Class to J, C, D, I, Z and O Class. For example, rebooking would look like: F > J, P > D, A > I, G > Z, R > O.
Please note: Exceptions include SEA markets already changed on October 20, 2018 and markets that serve both Delta One and Domestic First Class (JFK-SEA, JFK-SAN, JFK-LAS, BOS-LAX)
In addition:
- Travel agency PNRs will be updated with the new booking class and tickets should be revalidated automatically.
- Delta will add special PNR documentation (OSI remarks) to travel agency PNRs to indicate that a revalidation has occurred (e.g. OSI 1P REVAL COMPLETE).
- If the ticket is not automatically revalidated, travel agencies must reissue the ticket using normal schedule change guidelines.
What is changing?
- Fare classes F, P, A, G, and R will no longer be available when booking First-Class in Domestic markets, as these fares shift to J, C, D, I, Z and O, with mixed-service exceptions noted above
- F, P, A, and G classes will continue to be used for Delta Premium Select (DPS)
- In addition to Delta Premium Select (DPS), F class will be used for marketed code-share product on partner-operated flights with a true International First-Class product such as Air France’s La Premiere
Why make these changes?
Delta is making these changes to:
- Better align our fare products with our partners to deliver a more seamless customer experience
- Reduce confusion when booking with Delta and/or our partner airlines
- Improve consistency of fare classes among other carriers and IATA-defined classes
