Delta Comfort Moves to Economy Shelf for Domestic U.S., Canada Markets

Effective January 22, 2026, Delta Air Lines will reposition Delta Comfort from the Premium Economy shelf to the Economy shelf across Domestic U.S. and Canada markets, aligning the product with how it is already merchandised in international regions.

The change applies to Delta-marketed flights within the U.S./Canada region and marks another milestone in Delta’s multi-year effort to standardize how Delta Comfort is presented and sold across global channels. By positioning Delta Comfort within the Economy shelf worldwide, Delta is reducing complexity and driving greater consistency across sales and servicing channels.

What does this mean for Travel Agencies?

Delta is shifting Delta Comfort to the Economy ‘shelf’ for all third-party channels (e.g. GDS and OBTs) as part of the process to better align how our products are displayed across all domestic and international regions, making it easier for Travel Agencies to recognize and sell the products.

When booking and pricing a Delta Comfort fare in the GDS and when manual pricing entries are used, Travel Agents will need to book a customer’s reservation into “S”, the lower of the two Delta Comfort fares, and use a “price as booked” entry. The lowest available Delta Comfort fare will be offered. If “S” does not price, Travel Agents should book in the higher “W” Delta Comfort fare and similarly use a “price as booked” entry. Travel Agents should not use a “price as lowest fare and rebook” entry to try to price the itinerary, because the reservation is booked in “S” or “W” class, this entry will rebook the customer into a lower Delta Main fare and remove them from Delta Comfort.

Please Note: Delta Comfort fares are based on dual inventory; both “S” and “W” class and the Delta Main class of service used to determine the fare must be available for the PNR to price. Delta recommends that Travel Agents issue the ticket immediately in order to ensure that the PNR prices at the fare quoted.

This update reflects Delta’s continued focus on simplification and consistency across its global network. By streamlining how Delta Comfort is positioned domestically and internationally, Delta is making it easier for customers and their travelers to shop while advancing its selling and servicing capabilities across all markets and channels.
